Stanley Park History Program to Explore the Park’s Origins and Lasting Legacy

 Stanley Park of Westfield in collaboration with the Westfield Athenaeum invites the community to step back in time during a special Stanley Park History Program on Thursday, February 19, from 3:00 to5:00 p.m. The program will be held at the Westfield Women’s Club, 28Court Street, Westfield, MA.

Local historian Robert Brown will lead an engagingdiscussion on the origins of Stanley Park, tracing its beginnings in 1949and highlighting the people, vision, and preservation efforts that shaped thepark into the cherished community space it is today. Brown’s dedication touncovering and sharing Westfield’s history earned him a WestfieldPreservation Award from the Westfield Historical Commission in 2023.

 Attendees will also enjoy a screening of the 8-minutedocumentary, Stanley Park: Rooted in the Past, Growing for the Future,which captures the park’s history, mission, and enduring impact. Stanley Parkstaff will be on site to answer questions about the park, upcoming programs,and ways to get involved during the upcoming season.

 Light refreshments will be served.

 This free program is open to the public and offers ameaningful opportunity for longtime supporters and new visitors alike to deepentheir connection to Stanley Park.
