Nesting Birds and Tropical Migrants
Location: Entrance sign to the Frank Stanley Beveridge Wildlife Sanctuary (across from the Recreation Field)
Join the group for a relaxing walk on Mother’s Day, with Seth Kellogg. We will pass through a variety of habitats in the sanctuary during the height of spring migration, stopping to enjoy both resident songbirds and tropical migrants as they feed and sing. We will encounter as many as 50 species, including thrushes, vireos, and warblers. Bring binoculars if you have them.
Seth Kellogg has a Ph.D. in English from the University of Massachusetts. He was president of the Allen Bird Club of Springfield, and continues to be active with the Club, serving as Field Trip and Publications Chair since 1995. He is an avid hawk watcher and was a longtime editor of the Hawk Migration Report for NorthEast Hawk Watch.
