Nature Workshop: “Immerse Yourself in Stanley Park: A Sketchbook & Nature Walk” with Jessica Young & Kyle Young
Location: Entrance sign to the Frank Stanley Beveridge Wildlife Sanctuary (across from the Recreation Field)
Join artist and psychotherapist Jessica Young, LMHC and architect Kyle Young for a unique journey through the heart of Stanley Park! This mindful walk combines the tranquility of nature with the joy of creative expression. We will meander through the trails and scenic viewpoints, pausing to observe the diverse flora and fauna and capturing the magic in our sketchbooks. Deepen your connection to the present by engaging in gentle breathing exercises and guided observations. Learn practical tips and tricks for capturing the essence of nature in your sketches, using pencils and watercolor paints.
No prior experience is necessary! This is a space for everyone, from seasoned artists to curious beginners. All you need is a sketchbook, pencils and/or watercolor paints with water pens and a willingness to embrace the wonder of Stanley Park. You may also want a blanket or something to sit on while we paint or sketch. (Contact Jessica for a specific list of suggested supplies jessica@jessicayoungartist.com)
In a collaborative effort between Stanley Park and the Greater Westfield Community, eight Nature Workshops will be conducted in the 229-acre Wildlife Sanctuary* at Stanley Park this season. We hope you take advantage of these opportunities to enjoy nature’s beauty.
The walks and workshops will meet at the main entrance sign to the Frank Stanley Beveridge Memorial Wildlife Sanctuary* located across from the recreation field unless otherwise noted. Walks will cancel if there is heavy rain, unless otherwise noted. Wear hiking attire, sturdy boots/shoes, bring water, your field guides, binoculars and camera if you wish.
