Nature Workshop - “Birding During Fall Migration”
Location: Frank Stanley Beveridge Wildlife Sanctuary
In fall, songbirds pause in their travels each day to eat and build up their strength in preparation for another long night flight south when the weather is good. They can be very numerous one day and scarce the next day, but there are always a few that can be coaxed out of hiding. Our biggest challenge will be identifying warblers in their obscure fall plumages. During this morning workshop with John Hutchison, a regional wildlife biologist, we will work on the skills of coaxing and identifying birds.
The workshop will meet at the main entrance sign to the Frank Stanley Beveridge Wildlife Sanctuary located across from the recreation field. Wear spring hiking attire and sturdy boots. Bring water, your field guide, binoculars and camera if you wish. Workshop will be cancelled in the event of heavy rain.
