Muscovy Ducks Return To

Stanley Park

Two new Muscovy Ducks were brought to Stanley Park

Tuesday, December 20, 2011.

Through the assistance of Jack Jeneral from Westfield and Shannon Deay from Cape Cod we were able to once again have a couple of Muscovy Ducks join the Stanley Park family.  The temporary names given are "David" and "Ricky" to round out the Nelson Family as we had our "Ozzie" and a "Harriet".  We are contemplating other names for our new additions.

The ducks have wandered down to the river so there may be times you will not be able to see them in our pond area.  We are making sure that they are fed and are doing well.

Another suggestion is "Frank" and "Stanley" in honor of our founder Frank Stanley Beveridge.  Please send along your suggestions to Bob McKean, Managing Director via e-mail (director@stanleypark.org).

To view pictures of the their transport and arrival please follow this "photo link" or for a video please follow this "video link".

For more information please visit our website (stanleypark.org).

Our new security cameras have been installed and we hope to have these streaming on our web page shortly.  We are grateful to local information technology provider, Ed Watson of Mobius Works, along with Westfield Bank and the general public for their donations in making this security installation possible.  Questions please call us at 413-568-9312.

Friends of Ozzie Webcam

Thank you for all the kind words and support for Ozzie. Ozzie touched many peoples in the years that he was at Stanley Park. The adornment and love for him was something beyond what the staff at Stanley Park could ever realize. We are so humbled by everyone that we have decided to create a memorial fund for Ozzie. These funds will be used to add a surveillance/webcam in Ozzie’s memory in the duck pond area.

While this surveillance/webcam will be an added security enhancement to the area, it is to honor Ozzie and his friends who loved him dearly. Ozzie will keep a watchful eye on his fellow ducks and allow others to enjoy the ducks and the ponds.

Donations can be made to "Friends of Ozzie"

c/o Stanley Park

400 Western Avenue

Westfield, MA 01085

All donations made to the Friends of Ozzie Memorial Fund are tax deductible

*We are still accepting donations to the "Ozzie Fund" for the installation of video and webcam streaming cameras for the entire pond area.  Donations may be made in Ozzie's memory for this specific project and sent to Stanley Park 400 Western Ave. Westfield, MA 01085.  Cameras are in the process of being installed and should be up and running soon.   See more information about Ozzie below.

* Volunteer night at Stanley Park - December 1, 2011... On Thursday evening, Stanley Park held its annual Volunteer Night.  It was a major success and allowed us to give a sincere thank you to all our volunteers for all the valuable time and assistance given to us over the year.  Each volunteer was given a special annual Christmas Tree Ornament as a token of our appreciation for their help.  We all know that "There is nothing stronger than the heart of a volunteer" and this special evening helped bring us together to celebrate the commradere within the Stanley Park Family.  Additional thanks to Amy L'Esperance for producing this special night through our Development Department and an additional thank you to all other Stanley Park staff members for their invaluable help to make the evening such a special occasion.  To view pictures of this special evening please follow this "photo link".
