Annual Memorial Day Ceremony

 

Veterans' Memorial @ Stanley Park - Westfield, MA

May 26, 2012 -11am

On Saturday May 26th, 2012 Stanley Park, 11: a.m., in the circle of honor, Veterans' Organizations will be honoring the men and women who gave the ultimate sacrifice for their country.  Guest speaker this year will be Cpl. Donald S. Dorrington, United States Marine and survivor at the Battle of Iwo Jima. Master of ceremony is John M. Knapik, US Marine.  Host Post this year will be Veterans of Foreign Wars 1847, Commander Les H. Eldridge, Sr.

Organizations wishing to participate in the program at should call the park at 568-9312 ext 100, or Don Wielgus, at 413-568-7767.  Please join us for this special occasion.

Save the Date!!
Help Fill a Soldier’s Home

 

On June 16th from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon Stanley Park will be hosting a donation drive for the Homeward Vets Organization. 

 

Homeward Vets organization is seeking to collect small kitchen items for veterans setting up their permanent homes. They are looking for dinnerware, cookware, and small appliances such as toasters, microwaves, toaster ovens and coffee makers just to name a few. Cash donations will also be accepted and will be used to purchase gift cards for Big Y and Stop Shop for groceries.

 

Now is the time to get going on your spring cleaning and help out a previous homeless veteran.

 

Please join us on Saturday June 16, 2012 in the Asian Garden parking lot on Margaret Lane across from the Veterans' Memorial at Stanley Park with your donated items.

* Salute A Veteran...The Veterans' Memorial at Stanley Park in Westfield, MA is dedicated to the men and women who served our country during war and peace - past, present, and future.  The Veterans' Committee is pleased to offer the opportunity to purchase bricks that will comprise an "honor roll" that will be located in the area of the Veterans' Memorial. The bricks will recognize all veterans - both living and deceased, and will be put in a place of honor in the memorial area in recognition of those we honor.  For a copy of the Honor Roll Brick Application Please Follow This Link
